Web3 wunderkind Felix Hartmann on the future of crypto, metaverse, and why you should strap on some VR goggles

Das Volumen seines Fonds habe sich seit Herbst 2019 verachtfacht, umfasst nun einen zweistelligen Millionen-Dollar-Betrag.

“A lot of the insolvencies and forced unwinding from a volume perspective are behind us,” said Felix Hartmann, managing partner of Hartmann Capital. “Three Arrows filing for bankruptcy was kind of the final pin in that.”

It maintains the speed and flexibility of fiat currency while remaining independent of central banks and governments and their macro-economic policies such as inflation.”

Even so, other experts feel that Meta may benefit from a shift in the industry if it can correctly execute this transition. Felix Hartmann, Managing Partner at Hartmann Capital, predicts that the consumer tech market is entering a “story over storefront” era. “In a world flooded with digital noise, the companies that win will be the ones who can create visceral, in-person magic,” he predicts.

Next year will likely get busy again but will not be too competitive, according to Felix Hartmann, managing partner of Hartmann Capital. “If anything, 2024 is likely to be the ideal happy medium, where funds have ample time to do good due diligence without dragging their feet and putting undue burden on founders,” he said.

“Cheap point-and-click browser” P2Es are no longer getting the funding they used to get as “capital has gotten smarter and more demanding.” Hartmann suggested that venture capitalists are turning their attention to a better experience for gamers. He noted: “More cutting-edge game studios integrating Web3 and AI into Unreal Engine-based, high-fidelity games are seeing more traction.”

“Institutions started to really shop crypto in the past 24 months,” said Felix Hartmann, founder of crypto investment firm Hartmann Capital. “The interesting thing is, they haven’t stopped. They’re not saying, ‘Whew, I dodged a bullet’ like they were in 2018.” According to Hartmann, institutions are still interested in crypto despite the Terra fiasco. Additionally, the equities market doesn’t appear to be doing much better – another factor driving the institutional interest in crypto.”

Felix Hartmann, the managing partner of Hartmann Capital and an author, thinks that “ETH gas fees will not lead to an ‘ETH Killer’” eating the network’s lunch, so to say.

“The metaverse is a massive opportunity, but most will distract themselves with quick money grabs in the P2E or PFP space instead of zooming out and backing what will matter 5 years from now,” Hartmann said

Hartmann believes that there is a causal link between recent market conditions and the rise in bridge rounds. In his view, when the markets for exits and VC-backed valuations warm back up, the percentage of capital raised that comes from bridge rounds will decline.

Despite its current frontrunner status, OpenAI’s moves could also highlight “significant overextension risks,” said Daniel Derzic, head of AI investments at Hartmann Capital.
